Current News
At the end of August our long standing, thorough and meticulous treasurer, Angela Regester, retired. She has been on the management committee for many years, watching over the very tight finances of the original Village Hall and, over the last few years, seen us comfortably into the new Community Hall operation. We wish her well; she will be missed.
Angela has been replaced by Paddy Sherman who is a well-known member of the community and who will be an equally formidable treasurer!
The replacement of the ill-fitting fire doors in the Main Hall, as well as the small Hall/playgroup room, has now been completed.
On Saturday 8th September the Village Show was well attended with more entries than previous years, despite the concern over unsuitable weather conditions. This was the 56th Show, but the last with Sue Oliver and Joyce Seminara leading their team of volunteers. Isabel and Geoff Ferguson will be in charge next year and we are looking forward to another success in the 57th Show 2019!
We welcome a new member to the management team. Rev. Graeme Skinner has accepted the invitation to join the group in November. He invites everyone to a community event at the Parish Church on Sunday 7th October. Watch out for posters around the village!
A list of volunteers and helpers for the successful Village Fete 2018 has been circulated in the hopes that a group of people could get together and formulate a plan for next year. If no-one comes forward to head up this willing and able group of people, the village may sadly be without a Family Fun Fete next year. That would be a great shame for all of us!
